#500: Autumnal Transitional Coat

Some of the harder months to stay stylish are when transitioning between seasons. The weather obviously plays a major part in what we wear, warm days and cold nights pose a sartorial challenge and layering is the answer. First things first, it’s time to invest in an Autumnal Transitional Coat. As these pieces can be quite expensive, my coat pick would be a classical tailored overcoat which is versatile enough to be worn smart as well as casual.

This coat from Reiss combines the classic overcoat with contemporary style in a modern oatmeal hue. The wool-rich blend fabric will keep you warm on the cooler days.

A white shirt goes with everything, although whats important during transitioning seasons is the cotton fabric weave and yarn count. This white button-down shirt by London shirt makers Hawkins & Shepherd comes in a twin 2×100 yarn and woven in a medium weight pinpoint which is still breathable.

Grey trousers are like a white t-shirt, an everyday essential, indispensable part of your wardrobe. These dark-grey trousers from designer NN07 have all of my desirables when choosing a pair, soft mélange wool, press pleats and finished with cuffed ankles.
