Five of the best rooftop bars in London

So, summer is approaching, showers are almost guaranteed, but we also pray for sun in the city so we can make the most of the rooftop bars that the capital has to offer. Here’s the lowdown on the best rooftop bars in London.

Roof East – Stratford

First to mention is the first ever rooftop bar I visited in London, and thus a personal favourite, Roof East.  Above Stratford’s lesser famous shopping centre is fun filled ex-car parking space. Curl, bowl or shuffle your way to victory amongst your friends in one of the six sporting lanes on Roof East. Continue the competitive time in one of their batting cages, or playing crazy golf. If the lesser exertive games are your preference, Jenga, table tennis and foosball are just a few of the table top games the bar also offers.

Of course all of this can be accompanied by a beverage of your choice from one of the three bars, and the delectable delights from Vegan Food, (inspired by Vietnam and Korean cuisines) Kolkati (which is North Indian inspired) or The Burger Project (which we hope is self-explanatory). That’s not all, the roof top also has a great open-air cinema perfect for date night; Vinyasa Flow Yoga classes with a view to prepare you for the week ahead; and silent discos to see in the weekend. An Instagrammer’s Dream: get yourself there for the perfect pics!

Netil360 – Hackney

Next is another East London Love – Netil360. “A panoramic bar, garden, café and workspace, with the city’s skyline as at backdrop”.

With a bar stocked by local brewers and spirit connoisseurs, drinking here has all the inclusivity of a village pub with the refreshing quirk of east London.

Guest DJ live sets and a super sound system, this is the venue to go for marvellous music dusk till dawn.

By day the café is an ideal spot for coffee drinkers and freelance workers alike, with the added bonus of an array of dumplings on offer to try out! The venue, in addition to being available for events, recognises the creative inhabitants of the area and provides a perfect film and photoshoot location available for hire. Adidas, Heineken and Stella McCartney are just three of the big brands that have been enticed by the rooftop thus far.

Queen of Hoxton – Shoreditch

On to, arguably one of the most well-known rooftop bars of the East – Queen of Hoxton. Twice-yearly terrific transformations keep the bar’s interior design, food and drinks refreshingly exciting. This summer, Queen of Hoxton invites you to a long hot summer of tacos, tequila and giant frozen Margaritas on their rooftop bar, inspired by the vibrant town of San Cristóbal in Mexico.

Neon naked life drawing (among other art workshops), Grease singalongs (and frequent Karaoke nights), film nights, drag bingo and DJ nights are all additional attractions to the fantastic space on the Shoreditch skyline.

Bar Elba – Waterloo

An ever-popular rooftop bar among those that brave central London is Bar Elba. Inspired by none other than Napoleon’s exile to the Mediterranean island of Elba (with 600 of his closest mates – this of course was not a usual exile, but more of a 300-day party). The “party island” in the heart of Waterloo is brought to you by the Adventure Bar group that has provided us with super locations, such as the recently refurbished Blame Gloria and has a constant busy buzz, perfect to uplift anyone’s spirits this summer. Hot wings, flips, patty melts and fries also help to make this venue a place to make camp over the weekend.

Fulham Beach – Fulham

Last but by no means least, we are going to bend the rules a little with one of our favourite indoor-outdoor venues for the summer. It may not be a rooftop, but we just couldn’t resist including Fulham Beach as a hotspot to frequent. Yes, real sand is provided!

We recently attended the 2019 Summer launch, and we had an absolute blast. With multiple areas to position yourself, from the cabanas, to the beach huts, the feasting tables or even a day bed on the beach… your hardest decision will be where to take a seat and indulge on quality cocktails and the finest eats.

Eat. Play. Dance. Repeat. We can’t wait to go back!
