The Watchfinder London flagship boutique – An evening of Watches & Wisdom in the capital with Watchfinder & Co.
As luxury watch lovers, you can imagine our enthusiasm in attending Watchfinder & Co’s exclusive event: Watches & Wisdom. Held at their fabulous Watchfinder London flagship boutique in the stunning Royal Exchange, the evening entitled guests to observe the and enquire around the terrific timepieces Watchfinder & Co has to offer, whilst sipping champagne and consuming delectable canapés. Screens around the luxury store also allowed for further research on the company’s website.
A fabulous Q&A with the senior team at precisely 7pm on the dot answered avid enthusiasts’ and collectors’ questions around: the future of premium pre-owned watches; the most marvellous manufactures; the best value for money purchases, and the most elite pieces to invest in. (During which time the company’s knowledge gained from decades of experience with pre-owned watches was firmly underlined).
Of course, Rolex maintained its renown title as producer of the most desirable and indulgent timepieces, whilst its’ sister brand, Tudor, was highlighted as a great investment with immense value for money. Additionally, Omega’s Planet Ocean was another recommended asset.
One fantastic element of Watchfinder’s pre-owned collection, is that not only that you can often spend less than retail price, but “you can reap from your investments, too. A pre-owned watch doesn’t have the sting of showroom depreciation and can even increase in value over the years.” Furthermore, the premium pre-owned watch company allows for the opportunity to get your hands on rare discontinued, and luxury limited edition pieces.
The collector’s tendency for an unpolished finish of vintage pieces was also touched upon at the event, as was Watchfinder & Co’s fully-fledged service centre, accredited by many of the world’s best watch manufacturers. Before being sold, every watch receives a rigorous inspection at this facility.
“Since Watchfinder & Co. was first founded in 2002, it has been established as the premier resource from which to buy and sell premium pre-owned watches. With thousands of watches available from more than 50 brands, including Rolex, Omega, Cartier and more. With such a rich heritage for each and every brand, purchasing a luxury watch is more than simply buying an item of jewellery; it is investing in a legacy, and Watchfinder staff are required to be well-versed in every aspect.”
During our online search on the screens at the event we found some firm favourites from the current offering:
We adore the swerve, clean look of the Panerai Mare Nostrum PAM00603. Just three years in age, this limited-edition piece comes in its original packaging with assigned paperwork. The dial: Brown Quarter Arabic is the key to the astounding aesthetics of this (30-meter water resistant) watch. A crisp titanium case and brown leather strap enhance the charm the timepiece exudes.
The Breitling Old Navitimer 806’s stunning steel face and alligator black strap caught our eye. This 47 year old watch still has all its papers, but due to age, may not fall within typical expected tolerances for timekeeping or water resistance. HOWEVER, in interests of preserving original features, utmost care has been taken by Watchfinder’s service centre to sympathetically restore this wonderful watch. We think they have done a spectacular job of this vintage collector’s item!
The limited edition Hubolt Big Bang 413.CX.4723.PR.KOB15 had a BIG impact on us! Its royal rubber red strap and dial that contrasts delightfully with the beautiful ceramic black case (45mm). Just three years old, the Big Bang is water resistant up to 100 metres and comes with original papers and packaging.
This striking, sporty B.R.M Watch (V6-44-SA-SQ) has undergone a thorough inspection of water resistance (100 metres), accuracy, functionality (automatic movement) and condition to determine the level of reconditioning required to meet Watchfinder’s strict standards. The limited-edition piece (2019) has a steel black PVD case at a size of 44MM, matching black dial and luxury leather bracelet. Decorative stitch work, enlarged numbers and Union-jack printed hands add to the overall fun yet fashionable aesthetics that allude to motor sports.
A Collectors choice, the Omega De Ville Tourbillon 5910.30.01 (1997) is a visual dream. The yellow gold case compliments the silver baton dial with gold rim, whilst juxtaposing the alligator black bracelet material.
“Omega are a brand known worldwide for their iconic timepieces, such as the Omega Speedmaster and Omega Seamaster. While it is important to continue the legacies of the Speedmaster and Seamaster, every now and then Omega challenges itself, and reminds the public that it has watchmakers capable of the highest possible achievement in the watchmaking world. The tourbillon is widely accepted as the most sophisticated complication within watchmaking, and every so often Omega produce a watch powered by the very complication first patented by Abraham Louis Breguet in 1801.
This Omega De Ville Tourbillon is the very first piece of its limited edition run making it the most prestigious piece in the line. The timepiece comes complete with its box and papers, which proudly affirm the engraving on the caseback ‘Omega Tourbillon No. 1’.”
